What no one tells you about buying cruelty-free makeup

What no one tells you about buying cruelty-free makeup

Did you know? There are also some lesser-known benefits of our products being cruelty-free.

It may be stating the obvious that (we hope) everyone would prefer cruelty-free makeup over harming animals, but there's more to it than that!

Cruelty-free makeup means precisely what it says on the tin: these cosmetics are not tested on animals at all. That means that no animal is subject to any pain, distress or lasting harm for our benefit.

Because you need to test harsh chemicals and their reaction on the skin, these products that fall into the cruelty-free category, for the most part, are more natural and a better choice for your skin.

Cruelty-free makeup isn't just for the sake of our fur babies - it makes sense for consumers too.

With so many cosmetics on the market packed with synthetic ingredients, dangerous glitters and toxins, it's up to you to ensure that your makeup is actually au naturale.

You can do this by checking the ingredients of your favourite beauty products with apps.

We recommend ‘ThinkDirty’ and ‘CosDNA’ - both are incredible at showing you what you’re really putting on your skin!

You can also head over to CrueltyFreeKitty.com where you can search for any brand to find out whether or not they test on animals. It's quick and easy!

When you opt for products that carry the cruelty-free stamp of approval, you’re also voting with your wallet and encouraging other big brand cosmetics to take a stand. It’s time to ditch the harmful chemicals like parabens, sulfates and synthetic dyes.

It is worth mentioning that there are actually a lot of brands that are cruelty-free without having a cruelty-free logo stamped on the packaging, like Reckless, due to being produced within the EU - where cruelty for cosmetics is banned! (YAY🎊)!

Mainstream brands are slow to catch up. They’re FULL of toxins that do nothing good for your body. Skin absorbs everything we put on it, so when you use products full of parabens and harmful chemicals, that’s going straight into your body.

‘Cleaner’ cosmetics are also better for your skin, meaning less likelihood of breakouts, allergies, and inflammation. (🙌 YES to fewer spots!)

Save the animals, and save your skin!🐰❤️

It’s simple: companies that don’t want to harm animals want to avoid hurting people too.

If a product is safe enough to use without having to be tested on animals, then you can certainly assume it’s less likely to have irritants or harsh chemicals packed into it.

Luckily, there are tons of eco-friendly makeup brands out there (Like Reckless😉) who want to keep your lips shining like the 🌞or your eyes twinkling like the stars 💫without having to harm animals to do it.

Although a lot of cruelty-free cosmetics may be slightly more expensive, paying a tiny bit more for your makeup that lasts all day is a worthwhile investment (not only for our furry friends) but also because your skin will thank you for it!
